AREAS OF FOCUS
ANXIETY
Most of us feel anxiety on some level, but when it becomes a regular state of mind, often featuring intrusive thoughts, interrupted sleep, obsessive circular thinking, catastrophising, loss of appetite or emotional eating, and other deeply distressing situations, it is important to explore the root cause. Anxiety is often a byproduct or companion to other life stressors, depression or low self worth.
SEXUALITY & SEXUAL HEALTH
Sexuality can encompass many different aspects of the self including but not limited to sexual orientation, sexual fantasies, sexual blockages, fears around sex, sexual trauma and severe phobia. Our sexuality is part of our creative energy and blockages in this area can greatly impact our sense of self worth and ability to thrive. As a greatly suppressed, or sensationalised topic, the therapy room provides a safe space to explore these more 'taboo' and yet perfectly human impulses.
DEPRESSION
Depression presents uniquely in every client, but usually is characterised by extremely low mood, a feeling of being 'empty,' hopelessness and a pervasive feeling of being isolated and disconnected. This can sometimes- but not necessarily- transpire after a trauma, loss or major life event. Energetically this would be characterised by a diminishment or stagnancy of life force in the energy centres.
PREPARATION & INTEGRATION OF ALTERNATIVE PLANT THERAPIES
There is overwhelming evidence to suggest the profound benefits of guided, mind-expanding sessions using plant medicine, including psilocybin & ayahuasca. I am experienced in providing preparatory therapy before a session/ceremony, as well as integrative sessions post-experience; adequate preparation/integration is essential to the safety of a journey, as well as understanding, processing and- above all- maintaining the expansive insights offered by plant medicine. Research suggests that these experiences can have lasting positive effects on stored trauma, as well as unconscious fears & anxieties.
RELATIONSHIPS (incl Separation & Infidelity)
Our relationships on the outside are what nourish us, and can also reflect our deepest fears, traumas and subconscious pain. Much of my work with clients is centred around relationships with partners, parents, children, friends and coworkers. Issues with romantic partners can feel all-consuming as they will often trigger deep material to be healed; within the pain of rupture, separation or difficulty is always an opportunity for greater self-understanding, healing and self-empowerment.
SPIRITUAL HEALTH
Although talking, processing and analysing are all core parts of therapy, I encompass 'spirituality' as a core tenant to my practice. This will adapt to the comfort of each client, but includes mindfulness practices, breath-work and embodiment practices. Part of spiritual health is, therefore, relinquishing the mind, and tuning into the intelligence of the body & the energy centres. While this can often feel foreign to some, overtime it is a powerful practice that can be called upon when experiencing moments of distress.
CONFIDENCE & SELF WORTH
Lack of confidence and low self worth are rampant in a world where so much comparison is possible online. Our interpretation of ourselves versus others is taught through our earliest experiences in childhood, and is not something you are "born with" as many people believe. Unconscious beliefs of unworthiness, inadequacy, shame & guilt often underly these feelings which can seriously hinder a person from acknowledging & expressing their authenticity.
CHRONIC ILLNESS
The emotional toll of suffering with chronic illness, or any illness, can be life-altering and feel isolating. Having a safe space to express this reality can be highly therapeutic in itself, as the mental anguish can often exacerbate the physical. Childhood trauma has been directly linked to physical manifestation of illness later in life, and a degree of relief is found by being able to safely process and release these emotions.
STRESS & ANGER
Stress is normalised in modern society, but chronic and prolonged feelings of stress can have serious implications on mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Stress can be unavoidable during serious life-altering events such as illness, death or divorce, but it often encompasses more complex emotions such as fear, sadness, loss of control, worry and grief. Understanding what is at the core of the stress can help manage its influence as well as make space for productive anger, and mitigate destructive patterns of angry outbursts, hatred and rage.
FAMILY DIFFICULTIES & RUPTURES
Family dynamics, and difficult relationships with those we are related to can be deeply troubling as well as confusing. Often family-related issues have deep roots which can feel enormously triggering even through adulthood. Ruptures can be separation or an affair, but also take other forms such as estrangement, legal battles, withholding, gaslighting...reaching a sense of inner peace and groundedness is essential to navigating these deeply painful dynamics.
